Specifically I have packages
xorg-x11-server-Xorg.x86_64 1.14.5-20.intel20141
xorg-x11-server-common.x86_64 1.14.5-20.intel20141installed from the 1.0.5 release, but the upgrades are not available in the intel20142 so I'm running an outdated X with new drivers. I also can't reinstall the above packages (something I have to do).
Please visit https://download.01.org/gfx/fedora/20/x86_64/ to confirm there isn't even a trace of X-server there.

Hi arcivanov,
Experience informs us that we should not perform major Xorg upgrades on users' system-- more on that in a bit-- so we elected not to package Xorg v1.15.1 (see the 2014-Q2 Graphics Stack Release) for Fedora 20 or Ubuntu 14.04. This was an application of the "good neighbor" principle-- we did not want to inadvertantly break anyone by upgrading a lynchpin user experience component like Xorg.
Fedora 20 ships with Xorg "1.14.4-11.fc20". To upgrade to Xorg v1.15.1, a major upgrade, we would would have to upgrade the entire Xorg stack-- including its myriad inter-dependencies. Several releases ago we attempted to do a major Xorg upgrade, and while it did not appear to impact the user experience on our own test machines, other Installer users reported a wide range of issues, including losing touchpad or mouse functionality, all root caused to the Xorg upgrade.
We may perform minor Xorg updates (e.g. v1.14.4 to v1.14.5, like in the last Installer release). We will leave major Xorg upgrades to our friends at Ubuntu and Fedora. It appears that Fedora 21 may contain a v1.15 version of Xorg.
The "xf86-video-intel" package upgraded, which contains Intel's graphics driver for Xorg, was built against Fedora 20 and Ubuntu 14.04 versions of the Xorg driver. After running the Installer, users will have the latest X driver for their Intel graphics hardware.
Cheers,

I have just replaced the motherboard and processor in one of my desktop PCs with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz processor and MSI 7846 motherboard. OS is Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. I have downloaed and installed the latest version (06) on the Intel graphics drivers. However, I have yet to find a way to activate them. Synaptic shows that the drivers are installed except for intel-microcode. "Additional drivers" does not find the Intel drivers. What do I do next?
A similar post to the Installation/Upgrades section of Ubuntu forums generated requests for the following information:

I ran the 1.06 intaller on my ubuntu 14.04 64bit installation.
It seems to install all kinds of things, after which as a simple user I was hoping dual monitor support would work, but unfortunately they are still seen as 1 monitor and in mirror mode.
Is this functionality not yet enabled by the installer or do I need a manual kernel update or anything else?It would be great if stuff like that, which is actually the only thing I hoped for was working, are mentioned in the release notes.
Is there a good howto somewhere to have a simple way to get this working?Thank you.

If you get an aptdaemon UnicodeDecodeError while trying to update drivers, in Ubuntu 14.04, with installer version 1.0.6, you can add to this bug report:
