  • I have a NUC5i5RYH and I'm running into video issues trying to install Ubuntu. I created a bootable USB stick using unetbootin and the latest Ubuntu 14.10 images, but most of the install dialogs have missing/corrupt text. I tried HDMI and Display Port - same results both ways.

Is there a way I can manually install the Intel video package onto the bootable USB stick from another computer?

  • Could be - You can see the details of how to find the actual .deb files and apt source lines here:

Do you need anything else? (On the kernel side the main thing is going to be the i915.ko modules
and friends, those will be a little trickier - if you have another 14.10 machine you could install the i915
dkms package on that and grab the .ko files it produces for your USB image).

  • Another option might be a text mode install - does Ubuntu still have that?
(And then add the graphics packages afterwards, once the apt lines have
been amended to include the sources as linked to above).
