Hi guys, I've been using the graphics stack since Q4 2012 - Currently I'm using the latest in conjunction with Ubuntu 13.04 on the 3.8 Kernel. My system is a HTPC, utilising the SNB i3 integrated graphics. I've had a persistant problem using this in combination with XBMC, where the display will randomly freeze while watching video (of any codec I've tried - h264, mpeg2) with a GPU hang being reported in dmesg. This only occurs when using the GPU hardware acceleration.

This happens most commonly when watching Live TV via the TBS 6280 tuner card I have, although as mentioned it happens when watching other media too. The reason I've not reported this before is that the system used to totally lock - the gpu hang would be reported over and over until the system was restarted. This is what would be seen:

Now with the latest stack, it is possible to kill xbmc from the command line and following a restart it works fine. When xbmc is killed, dmesg now displays the following extra information:

I tried following the instructions here: on obtaining more detailed information, but it appears that the file specified is empty. Any help would be appreciated as it would be great to have the system working completely smoothly.

  • Hi begall,

Thanks for taking the time to investigate this-- the data will be very helpful moving forward. This looks like a bug, so I would encourage you to file one with the kernel graphics development community. Should you do so-- and I hope you do-- reference this thread and CC vivijim and I.
