just installed 2013Q1 intel graphics stack on ubuntu 13.04 (raring) and was booting straight into "low graphics mode" or blank screen. happened with both gdm and lightdm

tried all the suggestions in the forums

(purge install - unity-greeter, x server, ubuntu desktop etc etc etc) - no joy

fixed problem by following instructions on lauchpad forum

    insert this line

    "sleep 10"

into /etc/init/lightdm.conf - just before the line that reads

    "exec lightdm"

    problem solved.

the launchpad forum suggests that thiere was a fix issued in precise that fixed this problem but seems to raise it's head again after the intel graphics stack install.

is there something in the intel repo(s) that is out of whack?? and is causing this problem??

anyway - the workaround fixed the problem for me (after upgrade i am running kernel 3.8.0-26 generic x86_64)

    hope this helps someone.
