Will the Intel Graphics Installer support the upcoming Ubuntu 12.04.3 since it uses the 13.04 hardware enablement stack (i.e. kernel and X stack)?

This would be greatly appriciated since many users prefer to use LTS versions of Ubuntu.

    12.04.3 releases on August 22nd (2013).

  • Hi jadedcyborg,

It has been discussed, but there are no plans to restart support of Ubuntu 12.04.x. As a Linux enthusiast I am sympathetic to your point about the LTS userbase. However, the Installer project's objective is to convey the latest quarterly graphics stack release to users of the latest version of Ubuntu or Fedora. At time of writing, that's 13.04 and 19, respectively.

Given the scope of this project, the community is free is leverage the Installer and package sources to support the other distributions (and versions) that we are unable to.

Is there way to install the packages in the repository manually without using the installer? For example (the usual way of installing things in Ubuntu) adding a repo and using apt-get install. Since 12.04.3 uses the same kernel and hardware enablement stack as 13.04 it really should be a problem installing those packages if they work for 13.04.

  • Hi jadedcyborg,

We don't support 12.04.* and don't recommend to install 13.04 packages on it.
