There are some games on Linux, especially those run via Wine, that do not work properly and I believe the issue is either with the Intel HD 4000 graphics card or the Intel graphics card drivers. As I search the Wine and PlayonLinux Forums, I see more and more people with Intel HD 4000 graphics are seeing these issues.

For me, whenever I try to play Rome TW the game installs fine, loads fine, sounds fine, but the graphics look blurry and messed up to the point where the game is unplayable. Other games I've played do not have this problem however.

Here is an example of what my graphics look like:

I have tried and done everything. I have Ubuntu 13.04 32-bit, installed the latest Wine. With Winetricks I have installed d3dx9, vcrun2008, mscorefonts. All to no avail. It seems like nothing works. Is the Linux Graphics Installer project going to address this issue? Or is this something WineHQ needs to address?

  • We do care about gaming issues and currently our Mesa (3D) team works close to Valve to get best Linux gaming experience on Linux at Intel HD Graphics. However we don't officially support any wine.
