  • Do you have Intel 620 driver for ubuntu? I am on Dell XPS 13 9360 running ubuntu 16.04 kernel 4.4.0-45-generic #66

  • Hi - the 01.org drivers are backports of later i915 drivers to the stock kernel of the distribution in question - but the _bpo drivers in ubuntu are also backports, so the 01.org graphics update won't replace it (in other words the _bpo driver is already the most recent available for your graphics card on 16.04).

  • Thanks for the info. I have 4k monitor and would like to get 3200 x 1800 resolution. I could upgrade to latest kernel/distro if necessary. Current driver freezes the system at this resolution and kind of works on 2880 x 1620 but eventually freezes as well.

     

    Is there any way to get optimal resolution?

  • Solved. 

     

    For those who run into the same issue.

    After in-place upgrade to Ubuntu 16.10 the new driver works fine. I get full 3200 x 1800 resolution on external 4K monitor.

  • Hello,

    I also have Intel 620 in a dell latitude 5480, with a debian testing, kernel 4.12.0.2, When I connect an other screen using VGA, the screen is detected (I cand choose the display mode, configure resolution of both screens) but the external screen remains black with "no signal". Could it come from the driver?

    I tried to use the HDMI output with an adapter and the same VGA cable as before, and it works fine, but it would be easier in general to be able to use VGA.

  • To completely enable the drivers on Intel using Linux, you can download the latest drivers from GitHub and enable a couple of parameters on the kernel boot line.  I use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, so these instructions are for that. 

    Install this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers

    Pass this to the kernel boot parameters:  i915.enable_guc=2

    I use GRUB CUSTOMZER and just add it to the parameters line: quiet splash i915.enable_guc=2 intel_iommu=on

    You then shoud get this:
