You may want to check /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see what it is detecting -
There should be a chunk of the log after "EDID Version:" with entries
that contain the resolution (and lots of other data).
Detection of screen resolution (definition) may be improved ?

Hi there,
We faced some modes issues recently but all of them seemed to be fixed. However the behavior you are describing seems a real bug. Since you are open to help by giving more info, please follow these instructions: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/documentation/how-report-bugs-0 and open a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org with as much information as possible. Please open the bug and if possible assign it to me. (rodrigo.vivi@gmail.com).
Thanks,
Rodrigo.

Hello, I wish to report this issue. I'm not sure if this is related to Linux graphics or to my Linux distribution.
OS : Ubuntu v13.04, 32 bits ( ubuntu-13.04-desktop-i386.iso ).
Screen : Iiyama E1902S screen resolution is 1280x1024, but is detected as 1024x768.
Computer : desktop HP dx2400 microtower series, graphics chipset is « Intel G33/G31 chipset family ».
I am a beginner on Linux, but a expert on Windows. I may provide more technical informations or tests if you need. Regards.
