  • Hi, I have a system based on a intel i7 (sandy bridge) with an HDMI output. Do you know whether the intel DRI driver support 3D stereoscopic output over HDMI. Does it support 3D frame packing and Side-by-Side? Maybe my question in naive. To know more about the context: I am writing an application based on OpenGL (using GL_STEREO) and I would like to output the 3D stereo on a HDMI1.4a compliant monitor. Is it possible to use mesa on top of intel DRI driver to achieve this? Nicolas

  • Hi nbourdau,

A quick note that we just (a couple hours ago) created a Power Users forum, so I moved your post. I am in the process of moving other threads over.

  • Thanks,

Concerning this question, I don't know where to search else where, besides reading the whole source code of the DRI driver (and mesa). But those are codebases I am not familiar with.

Even if you don't have a definitive answer, any pointer is welcome, including pointer to some part of the source code. :-)

  • Hi nbourdau,

For the audio over HDMI question, I would recommend chatting with my peers and the wider community for our kernel (i915) graphics driver (here's how). For frame packing, the mesa community (here's how).

If you cannot get any traction there, reply here or private message me, and I'll see what I can do.

  • Thanks for the answers. I am going to try with to contact the mesa community about it.
