  • Team,

I installed the drivers successfully in Ubuntu 12.04. However, I am still experiencing overscan. Is there a tool to help me resize te size of the desktop?

  • Hi gaminel,

I see it's been over a week since your initial post, sorry it has taken me so long to post a reply.

This topic has been explored extensively in the tech press as well as on mailing lists for the major distributions. The short answer is, overscan is done intentionally by most (if not all) TV manufacturers in order to adhere to broadcast standards. Consult your TV documentation-- there may be a way to "disable" overscan.

Feel free to consult the Ubuntu forums (here's one thread that may help). The solution involves fiddling with xrandr to "transform" the display to correct for the overscan.

    Cheers

PS: Moving to Power Users' thread, since the fix for this is quite involved.
