After upgrading......screen graphics are stuck at a huge 1024 x 768, only one setting is recognizable so the graphics driver is no longer working.
    If I do:

    lspci | grep -i VGA -A 12

    I see:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)

So I have an Intel Xeon E3-1200 video card.
    I found this website:

This had a downloadable application for Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, since I have an Intel video card:

The page indicated to run these commands before executing:

    Signatures - Ubuntu*

In order to "trust" the Intel® Graphics Installer for Linux*, you will need to add keys to Ubuntu's software package manager ("apt"). Open a terminal, and execute these line:
    wget --no-check-certificate (link marked as spam) -O - | \
    sudo apt-key add -

    sudo apt-key add -wget --no-check-certificate (link marked as spam) -O - | \
    sudo apt-key add -

    Ran these, and got "OK".
    Then executed:

    # intel-linux-graphics-installer

I got a graphical interface with a "Begin" button. It ran some checks and said OK, then Install.

    several errors-

W:GPG error: (link marked as spam) trusty InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY A902DDA375E52366, W:Failed to fetch (link marked as spam) 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch (link marked as spam) 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

And then a very dramatic green, green, green, RED:

    Ensuring consistent system... OK
    Listing packages... OK
    Setting up repositories... OK
    Installing packages...
    Updating package cache... FAILED
     Installing packages... : Failed [ ] ◦

So I rebooted the PC and it hung at a blank purple screen again.
Booted into "Recovery Mode" and back to the stretched off to the right screen, but at least I can get on the internet.

Sure looked like that was going to work...... disappointment.
Has anyone else come across this?  How do you get Ubuntu/Linux to work with the Intel video card on your PC?

By the way.... how do you get back to the FORUMS after you post a topic?   I don't see any link anywhere and the address line goes nowhere.   Not sure if I'll even see if anyone replies.
Also all of the webpages I indicated were rejected as spam......

Sounds like your machine can't reach the repositories at to install the packages needed
(so nothing will have been upgraded): Can you grab the installer logs from /var/tmp and share them
with us? You can should be able to email me via the forum, let me know if you cannot.
