Hi - the graphics driver installer chooses a set of packages to install based on your current distribution: Its purpose is to get you updated versions of the drivers and supporting libraries ahead of the distribution's own schedule.

Since 14.10 isn't out yet, and is in a state of flux, we can't prepare a sensible set of updates for it - also, since it likely has more recent packages than 14.04 (or will soon, as it gets updated) there's not a lot of point in trying
to use the 01.org installer on it - you already have newer packages than 14.04 (which is what the installer would give you on 14.04).

Depending on the exact release schedules, the next quarterly release of the intel graphics installer should contain updated drivers for 14.10, assuming it's out about when we expect it to be.

    Hello ! :-)

The Realease Candidate version of Ubuntu 14.10 come in one week ( the 16th ), could we have an update for Graphic Installer please ?

By the way, I have tried to change the /etc/lsbrelease to Trusty (14.04 ) and the install continue, but break after when trying to install some packages.

    Regards,

Hi - alphas are a bit too much of a moving target for us, I'm afraid - the Q4 release will most likely target 14.10 though. While I'm here, I would like to point out that since what we do is bring more ecent versions of the software to the target distributions than they ship with, a 14.04 targeted installer is unlikely to bring much to a 14.10 installation, which most likely has the same or more recent versions already anyway.

Hello, are there any more updates regarding support for 14.10 since it is now fully released? I noticed on the page introducting version 1.0.6 that 14.10 was support to be supported by the end of October. Seeing as it is the 30th, I am wondering if the update is coming soon. Do you have any more information?

The 1.07 installer (currently going through QA) will support ubuntu 14.04:
It brings the 3.16-era kernel i915 driver to ubuntu 14.04.

Ubuntu 14.10 ships with a 3.16 kernel anyway, so the 1.07 installer wouldn't add anything
new to it. The installer release schaduled for the end of the year (December/January) will,
barring unforeseen circumstances, target Ubuntu 14.10.

The installer that is about to be released updates 14.04 to the 3.16 kernel i915 driver.
Ubuntu 14.10 already ships with 14.10, so the installer wouldn't add anything to that.

The Next installer release (December/January) after this one will target Ubuntu 14.10.

Regarding the "generic" OpenGL: Everything the installer provides is generic, there's no
secret or proprietary code here - we just backport things to our target distros so you
get them a little ahead of [the distro's] schedule.

I saw in a post that version 1.0.8 is currently in QA. Should be released in the upcoming days / weeks depending if any bugs are found.
