Hi,
I also have ubuntu 16.04 LTS and installed intel graphics for linux 15.10 (64-bit) but I still have my laptop freezing several times, normally everytime I connect another monitor.
Graphics: Intel® HD Graphics 520 (Skylake GT2)
Regards,
Paula Fernandes
Hi - when you say freezing do you mean it becomes unresponsive for a while and then resumes operation (either on its own or after the new monitor is disconnected) or that it locks up entirely and has to be rebooted? (Either way it's abug but the former will be easier to debug, I think).
If it does recover, the output of dmesg may be of interest, as well as the contents of /var/log/Xorg.log.
There are also guidelines here for reporting bugs in the grpahics stack https://01.org/linuxgraphics/documentation/how-report-bugs
Hi, I have a laptop Dell xps 13 which I connect to a monitor DELL U2713H through the DA200 and HDMI.
The monitor has a port DVI-D dual link (24 pins + 1) and I use a cable DVI-D to HDMI. The monitor has no VGA port.
On the laptop I have Windows 10 and I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 in dual boot
When I am on Windows 10 the signal of the monitor goes to the monitor, but if I am using Ubuntu,
I can see both monitors in the windows for the setup, but only the built-in is actually used, while the DELL U2713H
remains dark (if I switch off/on it I can see only the message "entering power save mode" before it actually does it)
I was reading this forum so I did some investigations without solve the problem...
the command
modinfo i915
gives the follwoing information:
filename /lib/modules/4.4.0-24-generic/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915.ko
while the command
lspci -kvnn
gives the following:
VGA Intel Corporation Sky Lake Integrated Graphics [8086:1926] (rev 0a) ...
...
Kernel driver in use: i915_bpo
Kernel modules: i915_bpo
Any suggestion is really really welcome!

Hi - I'd start by seeing if the monitor is detected at all: Check the output of `dmesg', then unplug and re-plug the monitor cable and see if anything relevant turns up there.
Probably also worth running `xrandr' to see if Xorg has detected both monitors. We've seen a few odd bugs where monitors haven't bene detected with some cable combinations, or by particular kernel versions - it's possible this is one of those cases.
Yes, the monitor is detected all right. In fact I realized that by reducing the resolution to 1680x1050 (16:10) the
external monitor works, but when I chose it I intended to have it working at a higher resolution than that!
I am waiting for a solution ...
I forgot to say that in the meantime I have upgraded the kernel, so now the command

How long is the installer for Ubuntu 16.04 coming out

When is the installer for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS coming out?++++++++

Hi - I believe the 16.04 update tool came out a while ago - https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/intel-graphics-update-tool-linux-os-v2.0.2 - about 10 days after your post. I'm sure you found it fine: I'm just replying here in case anyone else comes looking for it.
