    I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 on a Lenovo R61i. Yesterday, I install Linux Intel Graphics Installer 1.0.6. The instalation process went on with no error. But then I can't boot; every time I go to the splash screen, the screen just black out.

    Strangely, when I go to the recovery mode, and then resume boot, there's no problem at all; but when I reboot, the screen black out again.
    Here is my laptop's graphic card information, hope this help:
    $ inxi -G
    Graphics: Card: Intel Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary)
               X.Org: 1.15.1 drivers: fbdev,vesa,intel Resolution: 1280x800@0.0hz
               GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 128 bits) GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.2.2

    OK, problem solved. Turn out I haven't installed linux kernel 3.15. Done it, and everything work fine again now.

    I've been looking for an answer to my problem for days., it seems your problem is the closest match to mine I can find. How can I tell if I have already installed the Linux Kernel 3.15 secondly how do you do this?

    Thanks in advance for your help. This is driving me mad ;)
