Simple Performance Tools

Speedometer and Overhead are two simple tools for Intel® Xeon® and Intel® Xeon Phi™ that allow a user to determine how well his or her application is using the machine. Using speedometer, a user will often find that the application is using only a small percentage of the machine's resources (for example, memory bandwidth).  Using overhead, a user may find that the application is spending a large portion of its time in parallel overhead, such as OpenMP or MPI spin waiting. In either case, the user has an opportunity to improve the application's performance.
