Mayloon

Mayloon is an Android to HTML5 porting tool. It is designed to reduce the cost of migrating applications from Android to HTML5 platforms (such as Tizen). It does this by translating the application's Java source code to JavaScript and reusing the application's resources (images, layouts, etc).

Description

This Project Provides: Java to JavaScript translator binary and source code

The Value of the Mayloon Project

MayLoon is being developed as part of Intel's commitment to HTML5 technologies and the ecosystem. It is designed to reduce the cost of migrating applications from Android to HTML5 platforms (such as Tizen). It does so by translating the application's Java source code to JavaScript and reusing the application's resources (images, layouts, etc).

MayLoon generates standard HTML5 JavaScript code. As such, the resulting code should run on any mainstream browsers or web runtimes with minor, if any, adjustment. There is also a Tizen-specific option that outputs HTML5 code and project configuration files that can be imported directly into the Tizen IDE.

For Android developers, MayLoon is easy to use because it runs as a plug-in of their favorite IDE, Eclipse.

With the goal of making the conversion process as convenient as possible without providing functionality that would get in the way of customized development, a subset of the features from Android API level 10 are used.

Who It’s For

The project provides an API that can be used by Linux application developers, operating system vendors, original device manufacturers and system integrators to increase the value of the Linux ecosystem.

Project Specifics

This open source project is distributed under the Apache v2.0 license.

About Intel Involvement

Mayloon is contributed to primarily by members of Intel's Open Source Technology Center, enabling great web technology performance on Intel® Atom™ processors and Intel® Core™ processors.
